Earth Friendly Handbook
SRIC, in conjunction with Lynn Behnfield Thomas, announce the publication of Earth Friendly Handbook: An Environmental Guide for New Mexicans/El Manual de Convivencia con la Tierra: una Guía ambiental para Nuevo Mexicanos. Published in both English and Spanish, this handbook offers ways to both save money and help the environment. Using the Basic Six all-purpose products, Thomas has developed a guide to help in caring for your home in a natural, more environmentally friendly way. The Earth Friendly Handbook is not just geared for New Mexicans. It is for anyone who wants to have a cleaner, healthier environment. SRIC is selling the Handbook for $5.00, plus $1.50 shipping and handling. Send a check or money order payable to: SRIC, PO Box 4524, Albuquerque, NM 87106. Multiple copies are available for purchase.

Your Help Needed
Please consider supporting SRIC's work. Today we are facing ever increasing threats to our health and our environment. More and more communities are requesting our assistance as they deal with threats to their health, their water, their land, and their way of life. From the health effects of having a hazardous waste landfill in your backyard, to the chemical wastes pouring into our rivers and our groundwater from mining operations. And the efforts by Navajo communities struggling to keep new uranium mines from opening - communities already dealing with the health effects of past uranium mining. Your tax-deductible donation can help us continue our much needed work with communities. We can even take a credit card donation over the phone, just call Don or Annette at 505-262-1862. Please give generously. Thank you.

"In 1990 five U.S. National Laboratories reported that either fair competition plus restored research priority, or a proper accounting of its environmental benefits, could enable renewable energy to supply three-fifths of today's total U.S. energy requirements at competitive prices. Renewables could even supply one-fifth more electricity that the United States now uses."
