2009 Issues and Topics
| Volume 10
Number 1 Looking to the Future |
In this issue of Voices from the Earth, we focus on federal government initiatives that unfortunately have not made headlines, but significantly affect communities in New Mexico and elsewhere. |

Number 2 International Relations |
Sometimes our work at Southwest Research and Information Center (SRIC) introduces us to people from around the world. This issue of Voices from the Earth focuses on some of these relationships. We reintroduce the Jharkhandis Organisation Against Radiation (JOAR) in Jharkhand, India, as they discuss new developments in their community (see Voices from the Earth Spring 2007). We also discuss the work of SRIC's Paul Robinson with our friends at the Buryat Regional Organization on Baikal (BRO-Baikal, Russia), and the Center for Citizenship Education (CCE, Mongolia). And we participated in a new program, the Global Nuclear Legacy Project, that took Don Hancock to Budapest, Hungary, where he met with representatives of groups from the United States, Russia, and several European nations. |

Number 3 Uranium: Past, Present, Future |
Uranium mining historical and future continues to be a divisive issue in New Mexico. Community members affected by the dangers of past uranium mining are united in the belief that cleanup must be done. They have dealt with the polluting effects of uranium mining on their lands and their health for more than 50 year. Enough is enough. |
