Some of the Goals of the Summit:

  • Organize Resistance to Current and New Uranium Mining in Native Communities
  • Support Enforcement of the Diné Natural Resources Protection Act of 2005
  • Stop Nuclear Waste Dumping on Native Lands
  • Develop National and International Collaborations on the Nuclear Fuel Cycle
  • Promote Sustainable Development and Renewable Energy for Native Peoples

The 2006 Nuclear Free Future Awards will be presented to individuals who have worked tirelessly to end the nuclear fuel cycle. And drawing from the Declaration of the World Uranium Hearing in Salzburg, Austria in 1992, the Summit will culminate with adoption of a Covenant among the participants to resist further uranium development on Indigenous Peoplesí lands.
